Blog Hopping

I counted on a lot of things when I decided to self-publish. I was sure it would be hard work, that my workdays would be long, and that I was making the right choice. What I didn’t realize was how much I would enjoy the marketing. It has been really fun to learn more about social media, to go into new bookstores, and to meet new people.

Sure, I used Facebook, had a blog, and was a veteran of many discussion boards, mostly about horses. But I knew jack squat about Twitter, and I became aware of such things as Twitter parties and blog hops.

Today, I joined a blog hop!

For those of you who are as clueless as I was, this is basically a list links to the blogs of new authors so that readers can hop from blog to blog and discover us lesser-known writers and our books. Pretty cool idea, huh?

So welcome blog hoppers! Check out my series of tips for novel writing under the Writing Fear Free tab and also take a look at my new book Charlotte Collins, a continuation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, which will be released September 1.

Oh, and there’s a link to pre-order Charlotte right over there –>

  1. Welcome to the Blog Hop! I agree with you about marketing—even with publishers, authors need to do the majority of marketing on their own, and I was dreading it, but so far it's been a lot of unexpected fun.

Charlotte Collins! No way! I have always wondered what her life was like after marrying that toad, Mr. Collins. Are you at Goodreads? I'm going to look right now and add you to my list if you are.

  2. Hey Nicki! Great to meet you. I joined your blog already and will look for you on Goodreads too. I am new there, so I am still learning the ropes. Charlotte Collins is not showing up there yet. Must figure out how to fix that!

  3. p.s. I don't see Charlotte Collins on Goodreads – that's a great place to connect with readers!

  4. Thanks, Susan. I am still trying to figure out how to make it show up there. Do you know how?

  5. Great! 🙂
p.s. the giveaways are a FANTASTIC way to get your cover in front of people, and to garner reviews.
